Happy Wednesday! When I'm writing, everything's a mess. Binders on the floor, papers dragged out of who knows where and spread out for reference, not to mention the fact that dishes pile up for a bit longer than I'd like. The trade off is that I'm in the zone and productive, but dang, sometimes the messiness can really get to me (or my husband, who is a total neat freak). PS: this photo only shows one binder, and isn't an accurate representation of my writing mess! (I do love those YouTube...

Happy Wednesday! It was our dog Hamphrey's birthday over the weekend, so we took him to the park and to Petsmart to pick out some special treats. Here he is resting after a lap around the pond: Do you celebrate pet birthdays? I don't go all out (we've never thrown a party for him), but I like to do a little something to acknowledge that my dog is getting older. He's 9 this year, and it's wild to think we've almost spent a decade together! I miss the puppy years when he would dart around the...

Happy Wednesday! It's spring break here, and so my kids are home for the week. We ended up getting Mario Party on Nintendo Switch which has been a lot of fun. I've never really played a Mario Party game before and was surprised that it has so many minigames! I highly recommend it if you're looking for a game to play with the whole family. Otherwise I've been working hard on the final touches for Thorn which comes out in 8 days! Read on for an excerpt from the book, and after you read that I...

What a busy week! Usually I send my newsletter out on Wednesday, but this week I've been so busy that I haven't had time until today (Friday). Sorry about that! Read on for an excerpt from Thorn, my Rapunzel retelling, which comes out on 3/23/23. Hope you have a great weekend! Thorn - Chapter One Excerpt Prue stood at the arched window of her tower, surveying the confines of the private realm in which she lived. Her tower castle was so tall that it almost touched the clouds, and if the...

Happy February! North Texas is icy and cold these past few days, but fortunately my family and I have been able to stay warm and safe at home. Even our dog Hamphrey needed a sweater: As for writing updates, I have unfortunately had to push back the release date for Thorn, my Rapunzel retelling. A few things have come up which have made it difficult to stay on schedule with this project. The new release date for Thorn is 3/23/23 (the original was 3/2/23) so this gives me a few extra weeks to...

Do you like the fairy tale Rapunzel? It's one of my favorite fairy tales, and I'm nearly finished with my Rapunzel retelling called Thorn. Here's the book description: Prue’s mother locked her away in a private realm to keep her safe from a vicious decades-long war happening on the mainland… at least that’s what she said. What if that was all a lie? With only her mother’s love to keep her company, Prue passed the years woodworking, gardening, and practicing archery in the privacy of her very...
